Noise pollution is recognised as a serious risk to public health. Restrictions are in place for use of gas-guns accordingly (which are quieter than shotguns). Yet curiously there are no guidelines for what is "acceptable" noise from duck shooters' guns.

The below decibel level guide by the Victorian Environment Protection Authority gives an idea of what is safe for you and your family to be enduring.

If the noise you are being subjected to is greater than this, or if your sleep is disrupted, report it to your local council and to EPA. Please copy us at info@regionalvictoriansOTDS.com.

EPA's guide on noise from shooting ranges (which is what vast areas of regional Victoria become in "recreational" native bird shooting seasons) can be seen here.

*note the average shotgun emits 150-160 decibels.
